Darby’s Cafe

A really good place. It’s essentially a terrific no frills, good food, good value workers’ cafe. It serves meals, it serves snacks. It’s the perfect hipster antidote to what you get in nearby Northcote and Thornbury. It’s astonishing value. The big breakfast was $15 only, and that’s with a nice coffee thrown in. Big is exactly what this meal is - two eggs, sausage, tomato, mushroom, three rashers of bacon, a hash brown, baked beans, spinach with seeded toast. It was huge and totally unfancy but also importantly, totally delicious. Prices are similarly low across the board here for a good range of meals and snacks, with what typically looked like good, fresh plainly presented food. I loved the retro nature of this experience and the good plain great value food. I’ll be back for sure.

Darby's Cafe is truly a gem in the heart of the Thornbury. The staff at this establishment are simply wonderful, providing top-notch quality food and service. The soup's of the day are always a delight, delicious, warm, and hearty. The wide range of daily cooked food and made-to-order sandwiches are a testament to the fresh ingredients and first-class service that Darby's Cafe prides itself on. I highly recommend this establishment for anyone looking for exceptional food and service.

Gets an award for best industrial area 'caff' in Melbs! The staff are absolute gems, there's a ridiculously large selection of food, cooked well, served steaming, with a smile and at great prices! It feels like family when I walk in here

The food is exceptional, the seating area is spacious and the owners are delightful people. The love and passion for their craft is evident in every bite of their food and every sip of their coffee. Will be my regular until the owners change or the place shuts down!

I visit this place regularly as I work nearby. It's run by Alex and Anna who are very friendly. Alex makes great coffees and I usually order the focaccias and bagels because they're very tasty. The serving sizes are generous and the prices are reasonable. It's a great, simple and no frills café with a friendly vibe.

Just have a look at this, there is no better place to find a good egg and bacon roll in Melbourne. Support your local cafes people!!!

This café is perfect. The food and service are exceptional. I stay on the other side of the city and would happily make the drive to enjoy more treats here.
